From bare banks to a canal bridge

From bare banks to a canal bridge

About this timelapse

Construction Timelapse and Building engineering: a small road bridge takes shape over an irrigation canal between grassy banks. The build shows concrete abutments, steel beams, deck and asphalt in a clear worksite sequence. This AI architecture piece follows ordinary infrastructure at the scale of a farm crossing, from the open canal to the finished span. First the gravel road stops at both banks. Then the abutments and three beams appear, with shuttering only on the near half. Finally guardrails and dark asphalt link the roads and a van crosses. Watch the timelapse and follow for the next build.

The images used to create the video

A single static realistic photograph for a vertical 9:16 YouTube Short, shot with a fixed camera at eye height, about 1.6 meters, on the near bank and slightly to the right of the path axis, looking toward the opposite bank, with the horizon at about two-thirds of the frame and free margin around the center. In the foreground is a mown green lawn and the earthen edge of the near bank. In the middle a straight irrigation canal, about four meters wide, runs with still shallow water and grassy earthen banks. In the background remain the far bank, a row of tall poplars on the left, and on the right a low brick farmhouse with a clay-tile roof. The existing pale dirt road arrives from the bottom of the frame and stops at the edge of the near bank, then resumes aligned on the far bank. Clear morning light from the left, soft contact shadows, blue sky with a few high clouds, natural photographic rendering and depth of field sufficient to read the banks, poplars, and farmhouse.

On the edge of each bank a cast gray concrete abutment is already fixed, about 1.2 meters high and four meters long, with a rough stripped surface. Three gray steel I-beams, parallel and regularly spaced, rest on the two abutments and cross the canal. On the half nearer the camera, light timber formwork boards and still-exposed reinforcing mesh are laid on the beams, while the deck pour is missing. On the far half the three beams remain bare. Two timber props support the formwork of the near half and rest on the bank. A small pile of boards sits on the lawn to the right. Two workers in yellow hard hats and orange vests stand beside the near abutment, leaving visible the boundary between laid boards and bare beams. Guardrails, curbs, and asphalt are not yet present.

The single-span road bridge is complete and fully visible, with free space in the surrounding lawn. The concrete deck, four meters wide and about six meters long, links the two abutments; a dark asphalt wearing course runs on top, edged by concrete curbs and gray metal guardrails on both sides. Two approach slabs join the asphalt to the dirt road. A pale van, at realistic scale, is crossing toward the far bank in the center of the carriageway. Workers, props, and site boards are absent.
