How to use the online text editor

Write and format

Write in the editor or paste a draft. Use the toolbar to add headings, bold, italics, lists, quotes and links.

Organize and analyze

Create a document with New document and find it in your saved documents. Check words and characters; use n-grams and concordances to spot repetitions and review sentences.

Take your work with you

Use Download TXT to export plain text. Use Print to print the formatted document or save a PDF if your browser supports it.

Documents are stored in your current browser: clearing site data can delete them. Download a backup of work you want to keep. Cloud features and external services, when used, send the necessary data to those services.

Is the online text editor free?

Yes. You can write, format and analyze text for free without creating an account.

Where are my documents saved?

Your text is saved automatically in browser storage as you write. Use the same browser and profile on the same device to find it again. Private browsing or clearing site data can remove it.

Does the TXT file keep formatting?

No. TXT downloads contain plain text without styles or images. To preserve formatting, use Print and select Save as PDF if your browser supports it.

How do I count words and find repetitions?

Word and character counts update as you write. In Text analysis, find repeated sequences with n-grams, search for a word in context and enable the complete frequency lists.

Can I dictate text with my microphone?

Voice dictation depends on browser support and requires microphone permission. When available, start and stop dictation from the statistics area.
